Bengawan Solo

This is a re-construction of the boat that used to go down the Bengawan Solo River from the Royal Kraton Palace in Surakarta, Indonesia to East Java and the North Coast.  There are only various figureheads surviving now in 2 museums in Solo.

rework of abandoned image

I finally completed a painting that was started a few years ago but then abandoned.  Now the figure is done with amazing intricate European lace shirt and batik kain with kawung pattern.  The background is again my favourite place N'dalem Gamelan Hotel.  This is the final painting before my Java trip this year.

Batik

There is my painting from 1995 with the strangely beautiful light green colour.  I love this green since then and now my shirt from batik komar is this green with wayang motif.

new painting of Indonesian theme

I am working on my major botanical illustration for the year.  But on the side, I am still painting some batik design just to relax myself.  Here is one called Kraton Surakarta in progress.  The background will be a mirror.  The batik kain is a design of traditional classic batik motif of Naga and Parang but in north coast's brilliant colours.

N'dalem Gamelan Naga

I just finished this painting of my favourite hotel within the Kraton of Yogyakarta.  Right now, I will start my painting of Phytocrene palmata and also my research of the unidentified climber which now I have some ideals what it actually is.

New Painting of N'Dalem Gamelan Hotel Room

Here is the new painting of the room I am going to stay in at N'Dalem Gamelan inside the Kraton, Royal Palace of Yogyakarta.  The tiles are beautiful, I am going to copy the design in detail and see whether I can have a cap made from the design so I can have multiple batik done from the metal cap.
I have chosen to have the boy dressed in kain of traditional parang motif.

ritual outfit

This is how I am going to wear at Gua Langse, Parangtritis and Royal Grave, Imogiri of Java.
The green surjan will be replaced by black or dark blue as it is forbidden to wear green at the south Java coast.  The batik length will be of a different pattern.  Right now this one means happiness.  I will select another one that is more solemn for the purpose.
I think I will have to tug in the tail of the batik length in between the legs to the back and secure at the waist by the belt in order to be able to climb down the numerous ladders at the cliff down to Gua Langse.

Seadragon Obi finally finished

My Mom sowed this Obi together the way I wanted it.  It is going to be nice when I finally wear it in Java to visit Goa Langse in Parangtritis.  I will need to find a batik kain Panjeng to match the main colour of the Obi, soemthing in purple, peacock blue and maybe with some gold.  There maybe a little bit highlight of green but not big area as it is not allow to wear green at South Java Coast.

new painting of wayang dancer

This is the character Jatayu.  I like the blue colour costume with Garuda symbol.
