Vancouver Orchid Show

On Mother's Day, I went to the Vancouver Orchid Show down in Richmond to see the orchids exhibited. The show was good but this year, the exhibits were smaller but the plant sales were bigger. As usual, I bought a plant: Anthurium warocqueamum from Ecuagenera. The plant is mature with very long leaves but as usual in shock after bare-rooted. So now in the terrarium recovering slowly.

Here is the entire illustration with all the figures. It was fun to paint all the complex costume and the colour.

Spring is in Vancouver

I took some photos of my garden. The trees are flowering and a lot of vines are in bloom.
Cherry tree, Magnolia tree, Akebia vine and Paulownia tree.

Dinner with jungle vegetables

Here are the dishes I made for dinner for myself. Just simple jungle vegetables such as baby zucchini, baby summer squash and baby brocolini, jungle pumpkin shoots and leaves and flowers.
The soup is with pumpkin flowers and stems. The tempura includes deep-fried brocolini, zucchini and summer squash, pumpkin flowers and tips. Then the main dish is stir-fried pumpkin leaves in XO sauce. The chips on the side is again from jungle, called melinjo, a fruit from the Gnetum vine.
